Brain and Spinal Cord Tumors
Our neurosurgeons use advanced intra-operative techniques including electrocortiscography, frame-based and frame-less stereotactic procedures, and advanced treatment for primary and metastatic tumors of the brain and spine. We are also involved in developing advanced adjunctive treatment strategies and offer stereotactic radiosurgery for brain tumor patients in cooperation with a radiation oncologist.
Skull-Based and Pituitary Tumors
Our neurosurgeons work closely with area endocrinologists, otolaryngologists and opthamologists in the care of patients with skull base and pituitary tumors. Transphenoidal, transcranial or transnasal approaches to treating pituitary tumors are utilized on a routine basis. Gamma Knife therapy may also be an option for the treatment of pituitary tumors.
Hydrochephalus/Arnold Chiari Malformation
Hydrocephalus occurs when the normal fluid circulation of the brain is obstructed. Obstruction can result from a birth defect, brain tumor, infection, hemorrhage, or brain injury.
Vascular Brain Disorders
Each year our practice performs vascular procedures using the latest micro-vascular techniques. Our neurosurgeons provide treatment for a variety of cerebrovascular disorders including aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, carotid artery disease and stroke.
Epilepsy Surgery
Our team of physicians and health care professionals provide complete care for pediatric and adult epilepsy. Treatments include vagus nerve stimulation and anterior temporal lobectomy.
Trigeminal Neuralgia
Our physicians work closely with area neurologists to tailor individualized treatment for each patient. Surgical treatment includes percutaneous glycerol rhizotomy microvascular decompression and Gamma Knife radiosurgery.
Minimally Invasive Neck and Back Surgery
Using the latest microscopic techniques, our physicians are able to complete the procedure with a surgical incision no larger than a band-aid and reduce recovery time to an outpatient or overnight stay.
Complex Spine Surgery
We offer a comprehensive package of spine surgery services to this region. Complex spine cases are managed by employing new and advanced techniques and instrumentation. Newer techniques include microsurgery and endoscopy, which may be appropriate for many of our patients with cervical and lumbar disc disease. Advanced instrumentation for spine fusions is often employed.
Peripheral Nerves
NSS physicians perform numerous therapeutic procedures for peripheral nerve conditions including carpal tunnel release, ulnar transposition, nerve biopsies and removal of peripheral tumors.
Pain Management
Our comprehensive invasive pain management program utilizes the latest procedures of spinal cord stimulator and intrathecal pump therapy for patients suffering from chronic back pain.
